“These Are Precedented Times: Faith Lessons from Elijah for Right Now”
We like to say we’re living in “unprecedented times,” but let’s be honest—corruption, nationalism, spiritual apathy, and injustice aren’t new. Elijah knew them all intimately. The prophets of Baal had the spotlight, rulers were corrupt, and the people had forgotten their story. And yet, Elijah remained faithful. Not perfect, not without burnout, but rooted in God’s presence. This five-week series reclaims Elijah’s story as a spiritual guide for today’s faithful resistance. From standing alone on Mount Carmel to collapsing in exhaustion under a broom tree, Elijah shows us how to keep the faith when the world feels upside-down. These are not unprecedented times. They are precedented times. And we are not alone in them.
