Christmas Families Project 2024
Update! Once again the Mission’s Commission is partnering with the Long Beach School District to fulfill the Christmas wishes of 6 needy families. The boards are up in Fellowship Hall. Once you have chosen a gift card be sure to sign the tally sheet on the table with your name and phone number. The wrapped gifts are due back on or before DECEMBER 8, 2024. The gift card should be securely attached to the gift . Let’s give these families a Christmas to remember.
Each December our Missions Commission arranges with several local agencies and organizations to provide furniture, home goods, clothing, food items, gift cards, and Christmas gifts to about a dozen Long Beach families in need.
This annual project is supported by members and friends of the congregation who shop for items, donate needed furniture, organize donated items, wrap gifts, and support the project financially. Our knitting and crocheting group also makes handmade scarves, blankets, hats, and other items for the family members. In addition, teams of church members load up their cars and deliver all of the items to the families on a Saturday prior to Christmas.
Last year the church received a thank you note from a teenager who now had his own bed for the first time. Our congregation is passionate about this project because it is clear that it changes lives for the better.
