2021 Lenten Cantata – In the Footsteps of Love
Our online worship service on Sunday, March 21 featured our annual Lenten Cantata. Always a combination of spoken word and song, our Lenten cantatas vary in musical style and narration but always focus on Jesus Christ and the gift of salvation.
For the last few years, Associate Pastor, Susie Bjork, and Director of Music, Julie Ramsey, have talked about the fact that we have a shared experience of visiting The Holy Land (Israel and the Palestinian Territories), specifically many of the places where the Biblical stories that we read, talk and sing about took place. So when Julie was thinking about a theme for this year’s Lenten cantata and the possibilities of online worship, the idea came to her that not only could we talk and sing about Jesus’ last days on earth, but we could share our pictures from the very spots where these events took place.
We combed through our Holy Land pictures and found ones that we thought would be meaningful to share with you. Then Julie took each musical video and added pictures and visual effects to enhance the lyrics. From the Room of the Last Supper, through the Garden of Gethsemane, along the Via Dolorosa to the Mount of Olives and the Holy Sepulchre, we walk in the footsteps of Jesus as we share our personal stories and pictures about being in the holy places. We hope you enjoy this special service.
