The Enneagram Workshop: Nine Ways of Being in the World
Friday, August 15 6:00-9:00 PM (Light Dinner Provided)
And Saturday, August 16 9:30 AM-1:30 PM
(Morning Refreshments Provided)
The Enneagram is an ancient wisdom tradition that identifies 9 ways of being in the world. While we all have characteristics of each type, there is one type with which we more strongly identify. Understanding that type, including our core motivations, fears, and patterns of behavior, can empower us to grow personally and spiritually. Come learn more about it at this two-day workshop!
Please sign up in the Fellowship Hall on Sunday or email pastorsusie@bayshorechurch.org if you plan to attend so we can plan for refreshments and materials for all participants.

Hi all! Patty and I are excited about this opportunity to present the Enneagram to you. This way of understanding ourselves has been a powerful tool for personal growth for both of us, and we enjoy being a team as we share it with others.
I am a retired clinical psychologist, and I worked in private practice for 32 years, the last two years online during COVID. I completed my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology in 1978 at St. John’s University in New York. I immediately shocked everyone, including myself, by joining the US Navy on active duty as a psychologist and officer. Stationed at the Naval Hospital (now the Barnes and Noble shopping center on Carson Street!), I first got sober at their Alcohol Rehabilitation Service. Three years later, I became the clinical director of that service! After eight years, I became a civilian and supervising psychologist at one of the early intensive outpatient treatment centers for addiction.
Throughout my years of practice, I always included spirituality and relationship with a higher power as an important part of treatment whenever my patients were open to it. In 2006, I earned a Certificate in Spiritual Direction from Mt. St. Mary’s College in LA. It was during that time in training to be a spiritual director that I was introduced to the Enneagram, and I subsequently became a student of it. I thought it would help me to help my clients, but instead it helped me greatly to better know myself. In 2009, my book entitled God: A Relationship Guide, which is part memoir and part how to, was published by Hazelden.
Patty Little
Hello to everyone! I am a recently retired sociologist (PhD, 1994, UCR) from the California State University system. A thirty-five-year career in teaching still feels too short! I taught classes focusing on gender, family, and religion, as well as classes focusing on childhood socialization and social psychology, among others. In addition, I obtained a second master’s degree in Spiritual Psychology from the University of Santa Monica in 2008. The background study for all these classes has prepared me to see the Enneagram as a useful tool for personal spiritual growth. I began using it for my own growth in 2020. Knowing my type, including my strengths and weaknesses that reflect that type, has given me even more depth in my own spiritual development. Since it has been so helpful to me, I am eager to share it with others, and what a gift to find that my friend Judith feels the same way about it!
